MultiVersus is set to return in May with new content

It’s official — MultiVersus is returning on May 28, and developer Player First Games has been hard at work.

We learned from a Developer Update video on the MultiVersus official YouTube channel a multitude of things. First and foremost, MultiVersus has made the jump to Unreal Engine 5, vastly improving the visuals for the game. Another major update is the new netcode, this is one of the most important things about an online fighting game, and something the beta suffered at times.

To top it off, a new PvE mode was announced, promising a new way to play. With new game modes, a promise of new characters, and new stages, it looks like Player First Games really listened to its audience to improve the game.

One thing that wasn’t touched on in the exciting reveal was whether the game’s marketplace had been adjusted, as this was a major frustration for fans during the beta. The game may have been free-to-play, but it took way too long to accrue the currency to keep the game fun with new characters. Hopefully, in the coming weeks, this will come up in a developer update.

A major thing to expect in future developer updates is characters. The team said they listened to complaints, but after a little under a year, since the open beta and no new characters were revealed, fans may worry.
