New Elden Ring DLC trailer breaks the internet again

in News

For a while now, Elden Ring news has been periodically made public during the inevitable wait for the Shadow of the Erdtree, set to release June 21. This has included some images that essentially served as teasers for the upcoming DLC, where a few have admittedly gotten more traction from the community at large than others.

The newly displayed figure in this post is clearly hunched over, wearing a golden mask and featuring omen horns with two circular, ring-like weapons clenched within each of their hands. ย

Particularly, this render of one of the forthcoming, presumed enemies in the game served as a very alluring depiction for social media. It was shared first on X, where it has currently amassed over 80,000 likes and an estimated seven million views in total.

To nearly everyone’s surprise, though, the news went beyond a mere scattering of screenshots and renders.

This announcement, while phrased as normally as usual from their social media account, would have caught many off-guard with the timeliness of its posting. Unanticipated nature aside, the trailer would serve as an accompaniment to one of the earlier trailers posted in late February, and was, as promised, released within those three hours.

The cinematic, three-minute-long story trailer specifically features more of Miquella, and the newly introduced main antagonistic character of Messmer the Impaler, both of whom will play key roles within the DLCโ€™s entirety.

The next #ELDENRING Shadow of the Erdtree trailer will be revealed in 3 hours.

While other elements of enemies were teased in previous announcements, it seems that this trailer mainly focused on the two and elaborates more on the Tarnished playerโ€™s role within the all-encompassing story towards the end. There is also mention of a purge that Messmer supposedly led, and a lot of war-based imagery shown that is either related to or unrelated to the rest of the Shatteringโ€ฆ that much is unclear for now.

With about 30 days remaining before the DLCโ€™s official launch, itโ€™s unclear if there will be anything as largely important as this trailer to accompany the wait. As this would be the second trailer for the DLC thus far, itโ€™s unlikely that anything more than teaser images would be revealed… but time will tell whether FromSoftware has another trailer waiting to be released to its unsuspecting audience.
