New free Cult of the Lamb update on the horizon

In case you missed it, Devolver Digital hosted a Devolver Direct full of expected weirdness and game announcements. Among them was more details on a free update to Massive Monster’s Cult of the Lamb.

During the event, which was hosted to jokingly celebrate Volvy — Devolver’s mascot since last year — turning 15. In reality, the company itself turns 15 later this month. Among the other updates and reveals, one of the mega successes of Devolver’s library is Cult of the Lamb, which is already undergoing a new update featuring new mechanics and characters.

The update, dubbed Unholy Alliance, boasts a new playable character — the Goat — to play in its new mode, co-op. Specifically, it appears to be local co-op where players can move through dungeons and slash through heretics as if you’re playing alone.

It wasn’t that long ago since the game got its last free update — Sins of Flesh — back in January. That update introduced new buildings, followes, and the Sin system and Rituals, which can have your followers dancing around a shrine with just a leaf covering their crotch. Oh, it also added a Mating Tent cause of course it did.

The Unholy Alliance update can be expected out the door and into the hands (paws, hooves, whatever) of gamers on August 12 across PC, Xbox Series X|s, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.
