Sucker Punch Productions’ first update in over a year for Ghost of Tsushima happened ahead of its May 16 PC release, and it has apparently broken the game. While it fixed the multiplayer Legends mode, it did some stuff to single-player.
With a fair bit of fixes, according to the patch notes:
- Added initial support for cross-play services for the upcoming PC release on May 16th.
- An XP issue at rank 999 in Legends was corrected.
- An exploit allowing an extra player on two-person teams has been removed.
- Additional fixes.
The “additional fixes” tag is usually a catch-all term, so we’re not sure what was fixed. Nonetheless, with this update, it appears the game is freezing every minute or so, making it near-impossible to play. Now, luckily, Sucker Punch has heard the fans’ outcries and are looking into what’s causing the issue, though, it doesn’t mention a timeline of when we can expect it fixed.
Thank you, we’re looking into it.

If players aren’t experiencing this freezing issue, some others experienced general lag taking them out of either mode. We’re sure the studio is well-aware of that issue as well and will be working on fixes for that, heck, it’s possible the root issue is connected.
