New update to introduce land combat in Skull and Bones

Year 2, Season 3 of Skull and Bones, the fumbled multiplayer AAAA Ubisoft experience looks to finally add land combat. A Kraken, new modes, and ships also come packaged with the new season.

In a recent presentation (via IGN) laying out the plans for Year 2, Ubisoft shared that it plans on adding quite a bit of content to the title, perhaps even turning it around and making closer to what fans hoped for when the game was in active development.

The biggest thing, though, is Season 3: Guts and Glory, which will introduce land combat, a much-requested feature, as the game itself at its current state simply feels way more watered down than many feel it was intended to be. It’s unclear if this means we’re any closer to a more Black Flag-style naval combat where we can hop onto enemy ships, but looking at it positively, this may very well be the first step forward.

In our Skull and Bones review, we said: “Skull and Bones is quite possibly the biggest disappointment of 2024 so far. The lack of content at launch reminds me of the first Destiny game, with somewhat fun moment-to-moment gameplay, but a complete lack of anything else to keep the player interested past the first hours at launch.”
