Nintendo is now blocking screen recording Nintendo Today app

For some time, people have been screen recording and sharing screenshots of Nintendo Today news, but it seems Nintendo is sick of people circumventing the app, so much so it’s adding some sort of blockade from recording and screenshots.

Users on Reddit spotted that on some models of phones, mostly newer ones, attempts at screenshoting or recording the screen will result in a black screen, similar to how many streaming services deal with attempted recording. This is likely because Nintendo wants the app to stand as the main source of info rather than the person who screenshot it, and to us, this seems like it’s admitting the app isn’t as successful as it wants.

Nintendo Today is a leading platform for Nintendo sharing news surrounding the fastly approaching release of the Nintendo Switch 2 and its features, like GameChat’s text-to-speech feature.

The Nintendo Switch 2 releases on June 5, keeping its $449.99 to $499.99 price tag.
