Nintendo prepares to release a new revised Nintendo Switch 2 in Europe

The Nintendo Switch 2 was released globally with a distinct design that restricts access to its internal hardware, more specifically, its battery. This decision makes it difficult for consumers to fix their purchased tech, which isn’t ideal in Europe. Due to the Battery Regulation 2023/1542, Nintendo is preparing a new Nintendo Switch 2 model that follows the requested guidelines.

Nintendo recently mentioned the new Nintendo Switch 2 model in a posted file for approved Nintendo products in Europe, which was discovered by Nintendo Patent Watch. Nintendo titled the standard Nintendo Switch 2 versions as BEE in its model number, but the newer design will host different model numbers with OSM posted on the packaging.

This new decision could be an opportunity for Nintendo to provide the new console iteration to a global audience for people who prefer having easier access to its internal hardware. It could also be sold solely to Europe, similar to the Japanese model, but more will be told once Nintendo confirms the availability of the more approved Nintendo Switch 2 model in Europe.

Remember the curious “OSM” product code found on the Nintendo Account portal site? The answer is in plain sight:> future [EU battery regulation] compliant versions will have unique model numbers and the additional code “OSM”Source: Nintendo Europe www.nintendo.com/en-gb/Corpor… 1/
