Newly-minted developer Paramount Games Studios re-revealed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin at Summer Games Fest after three years of radio silence. The result of a merger between Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media, Paramount Game Studios has teamed up with legendary action developer PlatinumGames to revive the cancelled project previously under the stewardship of Black Forest Games and publisher THQ Nordic, a subsidiary of Embracer Group. The game will adapt the critically acclaimed comic miniseries of the same name, where the last remaining Ninja Turtle seeks out revenge against the grandson of former archenemy Shredder, into a cinematic action-adventure experience.
Prior to the reveal on June 5, Paramount Games introduced themselves to audiences in a post on X emphasizing critical franchises such as Avatar Legends, SpongeBob Squarepants, Star Trek, and, of course, TMNT. Based on reporting from Variety, the studio was launched as part of a revitalized video-game strategy, naming head of corporate strategy and development Tony Driscoll as President as well as former Skydance Games veterans Dan Prigg and Shawn Kittlesen as Executive Vice President (head of games) and Senior Vice President (head of creative and production) respectively.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is currently in development for consoles and PC.
