Sandwiched between silly questions and requests, REPO developer, Semiwork, has hard-stamped out any belief that it will introduce microtransactions. It also confirmed there will never be a full “potato mode.”
Straight from the horse’s mouth during a Steam Q&A (via Insider Gaming), it made its philosophy clear with how it wants to monetize REPO; monetize it through the purchase of the game and that’s it; no microtransactions.
“No. You buy the game once, you have the game—no micro-transactions ever.”
Frankly, it’s a bit of a breath of fresh air compared to many of the more recent big multiplayer games. Semiwork seems pretty keen on keeping itself in the favor of the community, which many communities have begun loathing microtransactions.
Features such as public matchmaking are also in the works, with that specific feature arriving in Update 1. Other stuff like recycling or selling back unwanted items is possibly something that could happen in the future, but it’s gone nowhere so far beyond a discussion.
