Sandfall Interactive founder left Ubisoft because he was “bored in their job”

By no stretch of the imagination, Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been a wild success story for the newly-established French studio. Turns out, the reason for studio founder Guillamue Broche’s departure from his job at Ubisoft was because he was bored.

Speaking to BBC, Broche gave his candor reason behind leaving the studio. Frankly, it’s not too hard to believe someone could get bored in their job for a studio that’s got a not-so-positive-reputation for making similar types of games.

“Bored in their job and wanting to do something different.”

Since launch earlier in the year, the Final Fantasy, Majora’s Mask, and Studio Ghibli-inspired turn-based action RPG has made quite a name for itself. The game had sold two million copies in two weeks since launch, giving a bit of credence that this year could be the year of the RPG.
