Speedrunners is making its return to modern platforms with its new entry, Speedrunners 2: King of Speed. It brings back the chaotic, high-speed racing with several familiar faces, like SpeedRunner and Hothead, along with expressive newcomers. It’s designed to refresh the experience with enhanced competitive gameplay and graphics while keeping the familiar Speedrunner system for veteran players.
Speedrunners is a 2D racing platformer game that tests competitors through multiple stages requiring item management, quick thinking, and hardcore parkour. Racers don’t win by making it to the finish line, but by surviving as the last person on screen, similar to Super Smash Bros. As players get eliminated, the screen will shrink for the remaining racers, forcing them to confront each other until one is left alive.
Speedrunners 2 King of Speed is preparing to launch with its expanded content in July 2026. Up to eight players can compete in the new sequel on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam through local and online play, including crossplay. A demo is currently available through Steam before the full game launches in summer 2026.
