Square Enix is encouraging fans to consider purchasing Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince on the eShop, as the game’s already sold out across many stores in Japan. This comes right after the Japanese developer requested fans hold off on posting spoilers until January 31 to let others get some time experiencing the game themselves.
As reported by Noisy Pixel, Dragon Quest’s Twitter is warning prospective players that the game is in high demand and its physical edition is largely sold out in many stores. Unsurprisingly, the dev is encouraging players purchase a digital copy of the game for those who still want to jump right in within the week of its release.
Its digital edition is faring pretty well, too, considering it’s topping the eShop charts. The only game to manage to top it is the 2021 puzzle game, Suika Game.
We have no idea how many people will truly budge and purchase the game on the eShop rather than just waiting this bout of high demand supply issues out, especially as the debate between physical and digital media kicks off again.
