Studio Odyssey Interactive hopes players will see the potential in its upcoming 40-player Smash-like dubbed Byte Breakers. The studio is letting interested players request access to a playable prototype it’s got.
Odyssey dropped this playable prototype announcement on its free-to-play “footbrawler” Omega Strikers’ YouTube. The footage shown, as admitted by team as being still in the early days. It’ll feature bright colors and cartoonish characters.
Odyssey’s goal is fairly lofty, meshing familiar aspects while also spicing things up with things that you’ “never find in a straight-up platform fighter.”
“We envision that by taking aspects of the multi-team environment, big open map, power progression, information asymmetry and just general strategic decision making of BRs, smashing those together with solid fundamentals from Smash, we can let players have wild experiences that they’d never find in a straight-up platform fighter.”
There’s no proper plans yet about playtesting that’s public, but you can request access on Byte Breakers’ Steam page to be queued up for its next North American playtest.
