Mario’s latest Game of the Year contending adventure, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, has topped UK sales charts when it comes to physical sales. Nintendo doesn’t disclose digital sales, usually, only breaking this when major milestones are reached on first-party developed games.
GamesIndustry.biz head Christopher Dring took to Twitter to detail the holiday sales Nintendo saw. From what he mentions, the Switch tends to have higher physical sales, especially during the holidays. It’s already gone past Spider-Man 2 and a nondescript — assumingly Modern Warfare 2 — COD entry, and is gunning for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Unfortunately, since Nintendo doesn’t jot down digital sales, we’re left wondering just how much this game has sold in both respects. As Dring notes, it would need a high digital percent to eclipse Spider-Man 2, as while it’s overshadowed the PS5 exclusive physically in the UK, digital sales no doubt yield a much photo finish result.
Super Mario Wonder narrowly missed out on No.1 in the UK boxed charts last week. In terms of physical, the game has eclipsed Spider-Man 2 and COD and isn’t far off Zelda.
Note: Just physical. Switch tends to be more physical than the other platforms, and doubly so at Christmas
