Guilty Gear Strive has been running strong for five years with new additions like characters, gameplay modes, and even system mechanics. Despite how much was added, Arc System Works is preparing to boost its unique experience to the next level with the version 2.0 update.
The developers took the moment during the 19th Developers’ Backyard to explain the content of the upcoming update. The version 2.0 update will launch with a brand new character before welcoming other new fighters later in future support. It isn’t designed to just add new content, but also refresh the Guilty Gear Strive experience with tweaked mechanics and features, similar to the Guilty Gear XRD series. The major adjustments range from tweaking risk and reward balance, changing combat features like Wild Assault, and improving the in-game performance. It will also provide new moves for Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske, Nagoriyuki, and Leo Whitefang.
Once Guilty Gear Strive upgrades to version 2.0, players will find more satisfaction with the new quality of life improvements for more stable gameplay and quicker load times. While the developers are researching new ways to reward gameplay, the new version will provide more rewards through its established FISHING feature. The new update will also punish any inappropriate behaviors with the upcoming new systems that detect issues like cheating.
More details for the upcoming update will unveil later in 2026.
