Wizard101 expands playerbase with brand new release

Wizard101 is an MMORPG that allows players to become wizards in the magical Spiral world. It was exclusively played on PC since 2008, but KingsIsle Entertainment recently announced the game will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on October 9. It will also launch on Nintendo Switch at a later date. 

The developer provided an FAQ about how the console version will work between platforms, including crossplay and account transfers. The console port will have stricter limitations on features like social chats and gift certificates compared to the PC.

The console game will include:

• The toggleable option to crossplay between every gaming platform except PC

• The option to play a Wizard101 account on different devices of the same gaming platform

• Gifting friends on the same gaming platform

• Console exclusive crown shop, along with planned support for more purchasable items
