Xbox CEO pulls the plug on Microsoft Copilot

New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has announced that Microsoft Copilot would “begin winding down” on mobile and “stop development” on console. Sharma’s background as Microsoft’s President of CoreAI left her well-positioned to assess the shortcomings of A.I. chatbot integration into Xbox platforms and to advocate for deploying A.I. to solve “player problems” such as graphics enhancement, discovery, and personalization.

Since her promotion to CEO on February 20, Sharma has reoriented the company’s strategy towards consumers and creators while reaffirming the importance of maintaining trust with the core player base. A recent social media post announced that more updates on Xbox’s new approach will come on Wednesday, May 13.
