XBOX is increasing its hardware prices substantially higher… again

Xbox previously mentioned the diminishing supply of memory and storage in the market. The current economic condition has already affected multiple companies, forcing them to increase product value, including Xbox from October 2025. The situation has only gotten worse with component prices increasing more than 2.5x, forcing Xbox to announce another Xbox hardware price increase.

Via XBOX Wire, the new price change will take global effect on August 1, 2026, with a fixed increase of $100 for 512 GB models and $150 for the 1 TB models. These growing expenses will also influence the company to stop production for the 2 TB hardware, excluding XBOX Series X – 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition from availability.

Xbox ConsoleOld PriceAdjusted Price
XBOX Series S – 512 GB$399.99$499.99
XBOX Series S – 1 TB$449.99 $599.99
XBOX Series X – 1 TB Digital$599.99$749.99
XBOX Series X – 1 TB$649.99$799.99

XBOX does recognize its growing costs being too much for its audience, which is why it’s introducing multiple programs for more affordable purchasing. There are two systems currently available for lower expenses: Refurbished consoles and Buy Now, Pay Later. The Microsoft Store is making its XBOX certified refurbished hardware more affordable with up to $100 off MSRP. This type of hardware can also become more affordable along with the standard Xbox hardware through the new program, Buy Now, Pay Later. This new system makes eligible XBOX hardware available through multiple interest-free payments, such as with PayPal.

XBOX does mention two other affordable programs in the works: Interest-Free Financing and Previously Played Consoles. Both systems will allow players to acquire eligible XBOX hardware through either lower monthly costs with 0% APR financing within a year or pre-owned purchases at lower costs. XBOX is conversing with multiple retailers to make the new payment systems available for its fanbase. Hopefully, this will be enough to combat the growing costs in the economy over time.
