Yacht Club’s independent future falls on its new game, Mina the Hollower

Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games may have to seek a buyer or outright shut down if its new indefinitely delayed action adventure game, Mina the Hollower, doesn’t perform well.

Jason Schreier claims in a new report (via Insider Gaming) that the developer’s independence is on the line, sharing that he was invited to see the game and check out why it needed to be delayed. It was also shared that in only the past few weeks did Yacht Club manage to be able to play from start to finish, but spotted things that needed improvement, meaning it’s probably gonna be a while before we get more from the game.

For context, Yacht Club has downsized its team to just 15 people, with co-founder Sean Velasco stating it’s a “make-or-break” situation. The team is hoping to sell at bare minimum 200,000 copies to be “still happy,” but ideally 500,000 and up would lead to the team being “golden.”
