RGG Studio is continuing to bring the original Yakuza series to modern consoles with Yakuza Kiwami 3. This remake doesn’t just improve the graphics of Yakuza 3, but also enhances the immersive, brutal combat and adds more story scenes; there are even brand new features like the ability to equip items to strengthen Kiryu’s stats.
The developers aren’t only remaking Yakuza 3, but expanding more lore with its new story: Yakuza 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties. The trailer showcases Yoshitaka Mine as the new protagonist from Yakuza Kiwami 3; he finds himself in the dark world of the yakuza in search of fulfilling his desires for true bonds. It’s a fresh, dramatic experience during the expansive adventure that will test Mine’s boxing-based fighting style and Dark Awakening skills.
The game will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam on February 12, 2026. Users who pre-order will also gain access to Ichiban Kasuga in the Ryukyu Gal Gang.
