Check out the touching Heidi — Rescue of the Lynx trailer

Studio 100 Film looks to be seeking buyers as a debut trailer for its book-to-film adaptation, Heidi — Rescue of the Lynx gets a trailer, with the full film shown during the American Film Market to see who wants to bring it beyond Germany. Within Germany, Leonine will be bringing it to theaters around the time of completion, which is slated for summer 2025.

Per Variety, gives us a taste of what’s to come, including solid voice performances and a touching story, all packaged up in a pleasing on the eyes animation style. The basic premise is Heidi saves a lynx family from a greedy businessman.

This isn’t a film that is taking directly from the book, but rather keeps true to its core beliefs and characters to tell a wholly unique story to Johanna Spyri’s book, Heidi. Studio 100’s Thorsten Wegener stressed that it wanted to focus on a “fresh new adventure” while adapting it to resonate with today’s audience.

“With ‘Heidi – Rescue of the Lynx,’ we didn’t want to retell the well-known story, but instead focus on a fresh new adventure that stays true to Heidi’s core values while being adapted to resonate with today’s audiences.”

It has no release window, but is expected to finish production by early summer 2025.
