Cast your mind back to just last month as reports surfaced that Coyote vs. Acme was, indeed going to get a theatrical release following a bitter cancellation as part of Warner Bros. cost-cutting measures. Now, it can be confirmed that Ketchup Entertainment has struck a deal to acquire the rights to the hybrid film.
As reported by Deadline, Coyote vs. Acme was sold to Ketchup to the tune of $50 million and is poised to release sometime next year. CEO Gareth West expressed excitement for its ability to strike the deal.
“We’re thrilled to have made a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to bring this film to audiences worldwide. Coyote Vs. Acme is a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling, capturing the essence of the beloved Looney Tunes characters while introducing them to a new generation. We believe it will resonate with both longtime fans and newcomers alike.”
Penned by Samy Burch, directed by David Green, and produced by Chris deFaria and James Gunn, Coyote vs. Acme is an adaptation of the New Yorker’s Coyote v. Acme humor piece. In terms of established actors, the humans of the film include Will Forte and John Cena.
Before rescuing this hybrid flick, Ketchup also swiped The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, which offered a strong showing for audiences and critics alike.
