Just a mere three weekends after launching, Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 is available at your home on VOD platforms. The movie became available earlier in the week, likely spurred on by its subpar critic score, but audiences seemed to enjoy it, so at least there’s that.
FNAF 2, despite critics, raked in some serious money for Blumhouse, likely causing a third entry to be in the works. This release to VOD platforms signals one of two things, either Universal and Blumhouse are content with the film’s box office performance and are already looking at making money before it eventually arrives on a streaming service — likely Peacock — or it’s not performing to the level it hoped and is looking at any way to boost its numbers, even if that means cutting losses and releasing it to VODs not long after its theatrical debut.
We’d hedge it’s the former more than the latter, as Five Nights At Freddy 2’s third-week domestic box office outpaced other Blumhouse movies like Get Out, Smile 2, and The Black Phone. Regardless, if you aren’t a theatergoer, you can rent the audience-loved horror film for $19.99 or purchase it for $24.99.
