Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie is still tied to Pirates of the Caribbean despite the female-led entry of the franchise getting canned. The film, which dates back to 2020, would’ve seen Robbie star, with Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson writing and Jerry Bruckheimer producing.
Speaking to The Wrap (via IGN), Bruckheimer confirmed Robbie is still attached to a new Pirates film. It might be that the canceled female-led entry is back on or it could be the next mainline — Pirates of the Caribbean 6 — will at bare minimum feature the Barbie actress.
โWeโre working on a script. Itโs always on the page; if we donโt have it on the page, itโs not gonna get on the screen. We had two scripts at one point, and then one kinda dropped out, and then we kinda went on with the other one.โ
Beyond that, though, we already have exciting stuff going forward, with the script being described as “close” to completion. We also know there’s even the potential that Johnny Depp will return to the franchise as Captain Jack Sparrow. Orlando Bloom also more directly said he was open to returning as Will Turner.
Right now, though, Robbie’s got her hands full with her upcoming psychological drama, Wuthering Heights, as well as being basically on-call for the DCU’s Harley Quinn.
