Netflix eyes just 17-day theatrical release for WB movies after acquisition

In a potentially industry crushing move, Netflix is potentially looking keeping movies in theaters for just 17 days. This is in the midst of its ongoing purchase of Warner Bros., leading into a bout of Hollywood panic.

Recent reports clue us in that Netflix has been a proponent for a short theatrical lifecycle of only 17 days, while theaters like AMC believe it should remain around 45 days. Of course, none of this is truly confirmed, after all, deals can be made and it’s all-too-likely that the theaters and streamer could strike up a deal between that vastly differing window.

Granted, while unconfirmed, after announcing its plans to acquire WB, Netflix boss Ted Sarandos did say to expect shorter theatrical windows.
