Oregon Trail movie in the works

The widely known Oregon Trail is getting the film adaptation treatment spearheaded by Apple. The flick is set to be an action-comedy still in early development.

Per Hollywood Reporter, Will Speck and Josh Gordon are taking up the directorial and producer duties while Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are making the music, with some numbers likened to the mega-hit, Barbie.

Lucas Bros. and Max Reisman are poised to do the screenplay. That isn’t to say IP owner HarperCollins Productions is letting the film go without a say, as Caroline Fraser and Kevin K. Vafi take up producer status alongside Speck and Gordon for the game owner.

Considering this is still in the early stages, we suspect it’ll be some time before we see Oregon Trail on Apple TV.
