Scooby-Doo spin-off Velma canceled after 2 seasons

The painfully controversial Scooby-Doo spin-off, Velma, has reportedly been canceled after two seasons. The R-rated spin-off dived into the backstory of the gang coming together but failed to capture the audience.

Background painter, Davey Cummings, showcased some backgrounds they inked for an October Halloween special, dropping that a Season 3 is off the table. It is worth pointing out that the post on Instagram has since been deleted, according to Screen Rant.

Velma Season 1 was highly controversial, garnering a ton of negative reviews from critics and Scoob fans alike. The show follows Velma, played by showrunner Mindy Kaling, as she uncovers the secrets of the disappearance of her mother alongside her Asian frenemy-turned-love-interest Daphne, black foodie best friend Noville, and white man-child frenemy, Fred.

Frankly, it’s shocking this didn’t happen following Season 1’s slanted reception, we suspect the show did pull numbers and the negativity was just something Warner Bros. just didn’t wanna think about. Season 2, however received just as much hate and it just wasn’t worth it to make another season.
