Universal shares Shrek 5 casting news

Universal Pictures is raring release Shrek 5 in late 2026, but ahead of said release, we’ve got some casting news. While the cast appears to remain largely the same, we’ve got a new addition to the main cast.

In a short trailer, which also solidified the redesigns, it revealed the film will continue to star Mike Myers as Shrek, Cameron Diez as Fiona, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, and now, Zendaya as their daughter, who appears to be a teen.

Shrek 5 has been a long-time coming, having heard whispers of it back in 2016 with Michael McCullers saying he was writing the story, things went quiet for a while and then 2023, the film reemerged with the reveal Illumination wanted to bring the OG cast back.

Shrek 5 hits theaters Christmas 2026.
