Imagine Night of the Living Dead but in a post-apocalyptic world taken over by zombified cats instead. Nyaight of the Living Cat sounds exactly like that type of story and an anime is already in the works.
Anime News Network has revealed that Crunchyroll started streaming a teaser trailer for the Nyaight of the Living Cat television anime based on the manga written by Hawkman and illustrated by Mecha-Rootsโ. In the teaser, the staff of the upcoming anime is revealed alongside a preview of the theme song titled after the animeโs name โNyaight of the Living Cat,” written by Kลji Endล. The song also features former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman together with Butcher Babiesโ vocalist Heidi Shepherd credited for the death growls.
Ichi the Killer director Takashi Miike will serve as chief director with Tomohiro Kamitani (Katana Maidens โ Tomoshibi) directing the anime at the OLM animation studio. Shingo Irie (Orb: On the Movements of the Earth) will be the head scriptwriter and Takao Maki (Laughing Under the Clouds) is designing the characters. Composer of the anime is under the hands of Kลji Endล, who is also writing the main theme of the anime.
The Nyaight of the Living Cat manga started in Mag Gardenโs Comic Garden in October 2020. On October 22, 2024, Seven Seas Entertainment, who is releasing the english version, shipped the fifth volume of the manga.

A virus spreads across the world, transforming all humankind into wild, slavering, furry beasts: cats, to be precise. Those few survivors who remain human take refuge in the dark corners of the earth as they fight back against the feline horde. Nyaight of the Living Catโs anime will debut next year in 2025, with Crunchyroll releasing the anime in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, The Middle East, and CIS.
