Zenless Zone Zero has begun teasing a new location for its third year of content. In the new trailer, brother-sister heroes Belle and Wise are approached by a bangboo (a small rabbit-like robot) with a new quest in medieval utopia Roscaelifer. Many of the new characters share design traits with European aristocracy and knightly armor, shifting away from the original season’s urban street fashion.
Players spent the bulk of their time in Season 2 on the Waifei Peninsula, a Southeast Asian seaside city, where brother and sister Belle and Wise joined a temple of monks, drawing criticism from players who preferred the urban aesthetic and tone of the year-one story. However, developer miHoYo appears to be deviating even further from this tone while promising a deeper dive into the origins of protagonists Belle and Wise as well as their mysterious mentor, Sunbringer. Another major figure, Ramielle, appears similar to Elysia or Cyrene from the HoYoverse’s longest-running series, Honkai.
If the Year Two teaser’s omission of fan-favourite Billy is anything to go by, then miHoYo still has a few surprises left in store for us.
