More news for the highly anticipated third entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise has just been revealed.
Recently, Paramount Pictures’ official YouTube account just unveiled an exciting second trailer of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, including more scenes of Shadow the Hedgehog.
In addition, Paramount Pictures and Sega just revealed the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Opening Day Fan Event before the third film’s theatrical release throughout America on December 20, 2025.
Fans will be given the chance to witness Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in cinemas at an opening day movie event on December 19. They will get to view it first at 3pm local time exclusively in premium formats at participating locations such as Dolby Cinema, 4DX, DBOX, SCREENX, as well as other premium format theaters throughout the nation. Moreover, Opening Day Fan Event tickets alongside general Sonic the Hedgehog 3 tickets are now available for purchase.

The third movie in the series returns this Christmas season with Sonic’s most exhilarating adventure yet. Anthropomorphic trio Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails assemble to fight a formidable foe named Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they encountered before. Unfortunately, their abilities are outmatched, and this time Sonic and the gang must find an unlikely alliance in order to stop Shadow and to protect the planet.
Jeff Fowler returns as director for the third Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The film will also bring back a star-studded cast including Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Idris Elba, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, Adam Pally, and Lee Majdoub. Other actors making their debut into the series includes Alyla Browne, Krysten Ritter, and the highly anticipated Keanu Reeves as the voice actor for Shadow the Hedgehog.
Some earlier information regarding Sonic the Hedgehog 3 suggests that the film will take place across three settings including London, Tokyo, and even in space. The film will also feature Shadow’s backstory, implying a more darker tone and feel for the upcoming movie.
