It’s no shock that a game like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has cutscenes and there’s quite a few of them, but not as much as some of Kojima’s other games. It does have a slightly higher percentage than its precursor, though.
As analyzed by IGN, which took into consideration the average length of time to beat the main story and average playthrough from multiple IGN editors, the end of it saw cinematic cutscenes taking up 15.97% of the game’s playtime, which accounts for about six hours and a minute of cutscenes.
This follows a trend of around 20% of Metal Gear Solid games being eaten up by cutscenes, with MGS 4 being an exception sitting at 40.63%, which isn’t shocking considering the game does have a 71-minute end cutscene, and MGS 5 going the opposite direction, sitting at 8.13%.
In terms of the original Death Stranding, though, it’s got a touch lower percent, sitting at 15.75%.
