So, Riot Games went and posted an AI generated video to Chinese social media platform Weibo promoting League of Legends: Wild Rift. Naturally, it was deleted following backlash.
Spotted by AroushTheKween on Twitter (via PC Gamer), Wild Rift China’s social media released a video clearly made by AI complete with all the expected problems like inconsistent designs, melting text, and even a misspelling.
Odds are, Riot will shift the blame to its third-party vendor, ๅผ็ฑป-Outliers, which has a history of making AI messes like this, so it’s really on the fault of both parties; Outliers for producing the product and Riot for commissioning it in the first place without considering if it could “produce” anything better.
It’s also worth mentioning that this League of Legends: Wild Rift promo looks eerily close to Sony’s KPop Demon Hunters, which has taken the world by storm, so it wouldn’t be surprising if this was made to give that same vibe to hopefully make people turn their heads.
