A new State of Play just dropped and there have been a few highlights in this May showcase. A new Astro Bot game by Team Asobi has been announced alongside new gameplay trailers for Concord, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Silent Hill 2 Remake. However, there were no news on the expected Spider-Man 2 DLC, Metal Gear Solid Delta, or the much rumored PS5 Pro. Here are the announcements:

Concord gameplay trailer debuts

A new gameplay trailer debuted for Firewalk Studios’ 5v5 multiplayer shooter Concord. The new trailer showed a pre-rendered cutscene showcasing a bit of the story followed by a first-look at Concord’s gameplay. The gameplay is very similar to Overwatch judging by the art style, weapons, and play styles. Concord will be released on PC and PS5 on August 23 with a beta starting in July.

Nonetheless, Sony has revealed that the PC version will also require a PlayStation Network account, similar to that of the Helldivers 2 and Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut PC launches.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins announced for 2025 release

Developer Omega Force is making a return with its Dynasty Warriors: Origins after the much maligned Dynasty Warriors 9. Dynasty Warriors: Origins features an updated gameplay formula and graphical fidelity while keeping faithful to its hack-and-slash warfare roots. Omega Force revealed that Origins will “depict the chaos of the Three Kingdoms from the eyes of a โ€˜nameless heroโ€™”, and make use of the PS5 hardware specs by creating an all-new Warriors-like battlefield “where youโ€™re challenged by massive armies as far as the eye can see.” The title is set to launch in 2025, although a set date has yet to be revealed.

Infinity Nikki receiving a beta test in Q3 2024

Open-world RPG and dress-up game Infinity Nikki received a new trailer today alongside the promise of a beta test starting sometime in Q3 2024. Infinity Nikki takes place on the continent of Miraland. Nikki and her friend, Momo, will travel to various nations, meet plenty of friends and creatures, and have a fashionably good time together. No release date has been announced.

Where Winds Meet in development for the PS5

Where Winds Meet is described as “an oriental Wuxia open-world action-adventure RPG that draws inspiration from the romantic and fantastical martial arts works, offering a distinctly oriental experience of boss battles and open-world exploration.” You play as a young swordsman, wielding Wuxia artistries and Kung Fu as you unveil the mysterious veil of your identity. Where Winds Meet looks similar to an Assassins Creed-type adventure but set in China. The trailer ended with an “in development” message, meaning that it will most likely be quite some time until we will have a release date.

Ballad of Antara is a free-to-play fantasy Action RPG releasing in 2025

Free-to-play Ballad of Antara is described by developer TipsWorks Studio as “an action RPG with multiple playable characters. These characters possess the power to traverse the two worlds of normalcy and unimaginable. We call them Emissaries. Astro Bot unveiled, releasing September 6 exclusively for PS5

Sony’s sweetheart (and de facto mascot), Astro Bot, is set to make a full-game appearance in his own game… called Astro Bot! Astro’s Playroom is an outstanding platformer that we have a soft spot for here at Smash Jump. We are happy to see Astro receive his much needed full adventure.

Developer Team Asobi have confirmed that Astro Bot features over 80 levels across six galaxies as Astro is in search of his missing crew. Astro will also receive 15 new abilities to fight off over 70 enemy types. Judging by the beautiful trailer, we will be seeing a plethora of PlayStation characters and franchises making appearances, including Kratos, Nathan Drake, PaRappa, and more.

We also expect that Astro Bot will once again showcase the DualSense’s haptic capabilities. Team Asobi called Astro Bot its “most ambitious game yet.” We can’t wait to see what little Astro and Team Asobi have in store for us! Astro Bot releases September 6 exclusively for PS5.

What did you think of the May State of Play? How would you rate it? Which of these releases are you looking forward to most? Let us know in the comments and on our social media. Our DMs are always open for you!
