Buy an original Switch if you can’t afford a Switch 2, Nintendo says

Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser is not blind to the fact that not everyone will be able to get the Switch 2 and encourages people who can’t afford one to simply buy the original Switch. Meanwhile, it also makes an attempt to justify slapping a price on its tech demo, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour.

Interviewed by CBC, Bowser said that Nintendo understands that not everyone can afford the $449.99/$499.99 price point and that those who can’t should look to the original Switch.

“We recognize there are some people that may not be able to afford [the Switch 2’s] price point. That’s why we wanted to make the other Switch platforms available, so [people] still have an opportunity to come into our gaming universe, be a part of these characters in these worlds, and see value, if you will, in whatever rung of the platform they come in.”

While not blatantly saying it, this feels a lot like the infamous Don Mattrick no internet comment following the Xbox One reveal. In it, which the clip can be found on YouTube, he blatantly told people who can’t afford the Xbox One to buy an Xbox 360.
