Despite leaving Mega Man high and dry in terms of new content for nearly a decade, Capcom still brandishes the IP as one of its most important. To be clear, the series hasn’t seen no action, having seen the light of day in tons of retro game collections, but in terms of new games, it’s been a while.
In a Q&A with shareholders (via VGC), Capcom reiterated the importance of the IP, but also shuts things down by saying it has no additional info to share. It is always looking at ways to develop the series further, but it’s hard to tell if it’s being genuine or more of a way to push the question aside for a few years.
โThe Mega Man series is one of our most important IPs, and we are continuously considering ways to develop it further. However, we do not have any additional information we can share at this time.โ
To be fair to the shareholder, it’s a fair question, the series, while continued on in retro game collections, hasn’t seen a real game since 2018, which is nearly a decade ago. There is hope, as Mega Man saw a lengthy eight-year gap between Mega Man 10 and 11, the latter of which is the most recent modern entry.
