Grand Theft Auto VI confirmed to release without any new disc version

Rockstar Games recently announced the pre-order details for Grand Theft Auto VI, which is solely launching digitally. Its controversial physical release created a massive community backlash before some claims sprouted about the studio planning to release a disc-included unit in the following months.

These claims originated from social media, which received a response from Rockstar support regarding the physical release, mentioning getting “a physical copy during the following months.” The wording made several fans assume a disc-based physical release would have a delayed release, though The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Rockstar Support was actually mentioning the previous physical release with a download code. Its reliable source stated that the support team’s response from social media was real, but misinterpreted from its broad meaning.

It’s still unclear what and how Grand Theft Auto VI will play on consoles since there’s been no real gameplay trailer yet. It’s described as a massive game with a large array of content, which could affect its game file size enough to become ineligible to fit on physical discs. How it will appear on consoles should be revealed soon once the studio provides more updates regarding its project’s upcoming launch.
