Coinbox was an opportunity for Hungrybox to contribute to the most passionate communities. It wasn’t just for Super Smash Bros, but other games like Rivals of Aether, Nick All-Star Brawl, and even Street Fighter. The series halted at the end of 2024 without any further update until the most recent Hungrybox Direct, which caught even the attention of the former Nintendo President of America.
Hungrybox is reviving Coinbox as Cashbox, a renewed online tournament series sponsored by Metafy. The first event is confirmed to start on October 29 for Super Smash Bros Ultimate. After next week, the series will cycle through scheduled weekly events based on different games like Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Super Smash Bros Melee, and other various games.
Patrons can support the Cashbox’s prize pools, casters, and staff as Whales for $10 monthly. The title gives the user access to the Continuous Compendium, the ability to vote for the type of rules and games featured for a weekly event. They can even vote to ban certain characters for a tournament and choose competitors to fight in weekly Thug Finals.
Hungrybox is submitting $25,000 to the new Cashbox while opening up a convenient website for anyone to become a Whale. He aims to keep the tournament series running for as long as possible.
