New entry in ever expanding SAO video game series announced

It’s time yet again to dive back into the world of Sword Art Online with a brand new video game, Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream.

Get ready to experience a brand new original story set within Alfheim Online. An all-star cast joins this experience, bringing characters from the first three seasons of the anime and the movies together. Unlikely alliances must be made to survive the dangers of Alfheim Online. This all comes from an announcement trailer on publisher Bandai Namco’s YouTube.

Fractured Daydream will focus on large-scale co-op experiences with online parties supporting up to 20 players and also having cross-play, allowing players of any system to play together. Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream will be releasing on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Currently, no release date has been given.ย

A closed beta test will be held during March, with registration open now. Two game modes will be available during the beta. Boss Raids will see four teams of five member parties prepare and take on a raid boss. Co-op Quests are the other mode where four teams of five must team up to clear separate maps and reach the boss fight.ย

With an interesting concept and fun-looking gameplay, Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream could be one of the best anime games of 2024.

More Smash Jump: Bandai Namco cancelled 5 unannounced projects, a new Borderlands looks to be in the works, and Adrian had some compelling comments in his review for Promenade.
