Square Enix releases free demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Switch 2 and Xbox

Square Enix continues to support its multiplatform strategy by releasing a free demo of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S. It’s currently available for the new platforms, letting anyone try the early chapters of the game before its official launch on June 3, 2026. It’s even possible to save during the demo before carrying the same data over to the full game.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the sequel to Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which takes Cloud Strife and his main party outside of Midgar. It follows the next significant arc of the original Final Fantasy 7, focusing on the main adventure to the “The Forgotten Capital.” It keeps the open world experience like the original version, though it refreshes the reimagined journey with new expansive content, especially the minigames and battle system.

Similar to its predecessor, the game will launch with several bonuses and extra content. Anyone who preorders the game can receive the pre-purchase bonus DLC Pack, which includes a pair of Summon Materia for Moogle Trio and Posh Chocobo, and a pair of armor, Shinra Bangle Mk. II and Midgar Bangle Mk. II. The Leviathan Summoning Materia will become accessible when owning the save data for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, while the Ramuh Summoning Materia will unlock for those with the save data for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Intermission. The game will also launch with the Digital Deluxe Edition, which will add the following digital content:

  • Base game
  • Summoning Materia: Magic Pot
  • Accessory: Reclaimant Choker
  • Armor: Orchid Bracelet
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Digital Art Book
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Digital Mini Soundtrack
