Stardew Valley creator, who vowed to not update it until Haunted Chocolatier releases, confirms new update

Back in April, creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone vowed to take a break from Stardew Valley to focus on Haunted Chocolatier, which he dusted off last year, even going as far as to say there wouldn’t be any new updates until the latter releases. But, that was then and he has just confirmed a new update is on the horizon for the cozy farming sim.

While at the Stardew Valley Symphony of Seasons concert (via FRVR), the creator confirmed a new update was in the works. Now, it’s important to note, he doesn’t address in the video how big it will be. But, following the footage surfacing on TikTok, Barone took to Twitter to confirm 1.7 is in the works. As it stands, there is no release date or even an estimate.

Stardew Valley, by and large, needs no introduction — it’s been around for nearly a decade and has stood the test of time of keeping itself relevant, fresh, and overall a fun experience for those looking for a cozy farming simulator. Driven by passion and its growing community, this is what’s caused the dev to keep going all these years later and many onward. Meanwhile, there is a chance of a Stardew Valley 2, but that’s a catch.

In terms of Haunted Chocolatier, though, not much is known about the title outside of a there being fishing, being more “action-focused,” and chocolate.
