Stardew Valley is a popular and long-lasting game that remains one of the kings of cozy farming sims, so naturally some studios want to make a crossover deal, but shockingly, developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone doesn’t see a penny, and that’s by design.
On Twitter, Barone confirmed that over the course of the years he’s made Stardew Valley, there have been crossovers, but all crossovers were done because either he liked the game or he believed the players would. All that to say, he’s never gotten money for the crossovers.
This comes after the announcement of the somewhat controversial crossover with Infinity Nikki, the free-to-play action dress-up game, which many do not like due to just how monetization hungry the game is. Meanwhile, there’s been crossovers like Terraria and Balatro in the past, so really, crossovers are a rare event for the title.
