At the June 8 Xbox Games Showcase, a classic Xbox Live Arcade indie title by devs Team Meat is making a return for 2026… and in eye-popping 3D. The original title was once featured in the 2012 documentary Indie Game: The Movie.
Super Meat Boy 3D is set to be the first installment in the franchise since 2020’s Super Meat Boy Forever and the 2023 spinoff game Dr. Fetus’s Mean Meat Machine. The official trailer from Xbox themselves is available to view below:
As part of the Xbox June Showcase, Super Meat Boy, the infamous tough-as-nails platformer, was revealed, IN 3D! Coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, and Xbox Cloud.
Aside from the vibrant 3D graphics/lighting, the trailer does open up with a playful reference to Nintendo’s Mario franchise by featuring a green pipe bursting from the ground before Super Meat Boy 3D’s titular character made his appearance, preparing to rescue his girlfriend just like in the original game. Despite the official trailer only listing the 3D remake coming in early 2026 to Xbox platforms and PC, GameSpot’s report mentions the game also coming to PlayStation 5.
Additionally, for the first time, Smash Jump streamed the Xbox Games Showcase, available for replay for those who missed out. Reactions to the Super Meat Boy 3D trailer starts at the 2:14 mark:
