It appears 2K Games is working on a new remake that has yet to be revealed. It’s hard to say what could be deserving of a remake within its library. Additionally, there’s an unannounced game and unannounced sports title.
According to MP1st, 3D artist and motion capture animator Brett Shupe let it slip on his LinkedIn that 2K has this secretive project. He also mentions a slurry of upcoming projects like something tied to the Mafia and BioShock IPs.
While it’s not clear what game franchise is getting the remake treatment, 2K does have a decent library of quiet IPs like Serious Sam, Stronghold, The Darkness, Spec Ops: The Line, and more. The last of which would somewhat make sense, considering its creator’s instance that the game will return after getting delisted due to expired music licensing.
It could be something a little more expected like a full remake of the older BioShock games ahead of the new entry. The hindrance there would be how often it’s been repackaged for later hardware, such as BioShock: The Collection back in 2020 that brought the game to the Nintendo Switch. Any of these are possible or it could be an entirely off-the-wall game that we’re not expecting.
