It appears that Microsoft may be taking a new approach to the gaming industry and the way it releases titles.
With a new tweet from Phil Spencer, it appears that some Xbox-exclusive games may be heading to other platforms and more details are on the horizon. This comes shortly after The Verge published an article about the possibility of the new Indiana Jones game coming to the PlayStation 5.
Following the tumultuous acquisition of Activision Blizzard, this news does not come as a major surprise. Microsoft has been willing to promise the release of future Call of Duty titles on the Nintendo Switch and other alternative platforms. From a business standpoint, releasing games on more platforms should equal further sales, propelling Microsoft ahead in the video game industry.
Other games included in the rumors of multi-platform access include Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Starfield, and Gears of War. Interestingly, even Microsoft’s flagship series, Halo, maybe in the mix of becoming multi-platform based on a new job advertisement. Developer 343 Industries posted an ad looking to hire a “Lead Game Systems Designer,” with the appropriate candidate having an understanding of modern consoles and PCs instead of just Xbox.
With the event set for next week, only time will tell if or when exclusive games will make the transition to PlayStation 5.
