Coco 2 in the works at Pixar

A sequel to Pixar’s 2017 Day of the Dead-inspired flick, Coco, is receiving a sequel. As one might imagine, it’s dubbed Coco 2.

During a recent The Walt Disney Companyโ€™s annual meeting with shareholders (via IGN), Bob Iger spilled the beans.

โ€œWhile the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humor, heart and adventure. And we can’t wait to share more soon.โ€

The flick will see the return of director Lee Unkrich, who previously directed Toy Story 3 before Coco. Adrian Molina also returns as co-director. Meanwhile, Mark Nielsen, who has made a name for himself with Toy Story 4 and most recently Inside Out 2, is set to produce.

Coco was a big deal back in 2017, nabbing a handful of awards, including a BAFTA for best animated film and a Golden Globe for best animated feature.

No solid release date was shared, but Coco 2 is supposedly coming out sometime in 2026.
