The celebration train for Tango Gameworks has hit a snag. Only the Hi-Fi Rush IP, along with the Tango team, has been acquired by Krafton after getting shut down by Microsoft.
This disheartening news was confirmed by MP1st, which had the chance to speak with Krafton. It clarified that it is “only acquiring the Hi-Fi Rush IP and the development staff of Tango Gameworks.”
This is still good news for fans of Hi-Fi Rush and the potential future of the series. However, for fans of The Evil Within, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and other Tango Gameworks IPs, it appears that Microsoft will be the deciding factor in any future releases. With the loss of the Tango team, it’s unlikely that any previous series will see a proper revival.
It will be interesting to see what Krafton has planned for the Tango team. While there’s a future in store for the Hi-Fi Rush IP, given Tango’s proven track record with survival horror titles, it will be intriguing to see if Krafton allows them to pursue anything else in that genre.
