Hideo Kojima is considering making a movie after he’s done working on Physint and OD. His goal of making a movie shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone familiar with his work.
In an interview with Brut (via Genki), Kojima revealed he may very well direct a film after his contractually obligated games are done and dusted. As you may recall, he has two games in the works now that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is done.
Physint is his spy espionage game backed by Sony and is being seen by Kojima fans as a spiritual successor of Metal Gear. Meanwhile OD is a horror game backed by Xbox. After those games, though, he doesn’t have projects on his plate, it seems.
It just makes sense for him to follow his other passion of filmmaking after all this time of kind of kicking around the idea. At this point, though, we have no idea what his perspective movie could be about, whether it’s something totally different or tied to one of the handful of IPs he’s got at his disposal.
