The much requested feature of playable ghouls is soon to be a reality in Fallout 76, complete with an entire overhaul of play style. It won’t just be a “cosmetic experience.”
During an IGN interview, Fallout 76 creative director Jon Rush disclosed some details about its roadmap, including a 2025 update that will allow players to don a new race. If the player is level 50+, they can choose to become a Ghoul, which overhauls how you play the game, as you no longer have to worry about radiation. It can benefit you like healing and other perks. You can also get specific Perk Cards as the new leathery skinned race and no longer need to worry about power armor to avoid the excess rads.
Unsurprisingly, this feels like it was planned thanks to the show’s success, especially as it may feature a mechanic similar to something introduced in the Prime Video show — the drug-like remedy that helps ghouls avoid turning feral. Of course, all he said was “possibly,” but it’s all-too-likely.
We don’t have a direct timeline, but we know this new update is slated for next year, so hopefully it’s something that’s heading our way early next year, but of course, you still need time to grind yourself up to the required level before this feature shows up.
