Capcom’s Monster Hunter series has blown past a major milestone, breezing past 97 million copies sold of the franchise. This comes on the heels of the next entry getting revealed for release sometime in 2025.
In the Japanese developer’s recent quarterly financial report, it was revealed the series as a whole surpassed this milestone, with the addition of two million copies sold within the last quarter. As laid out by GamingBolt, the base version of Monster Hunter World sold 19.1 million, while accounting for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition skyrockets the numbers to 24.1 million. Iceborne alone accounts for 11.6 million in sales, while the likes of Rise and Sunbreak boast 14.2 and 7.1 million respectively.
With Monster Hunter Wilds on the horizon, we can only imagine interest in the series will increase, especially if Capcom keeps its pace, meanwhile interest in the company itself may boost, too. While the company is eyeing the benefits of bumping its prices up to the new standard of $70, it’s also looking to get fan feedback on what remakes and reboots they would be interested in seeing in the future.
We have a sneaking suspicion that the series as a whole will surpass 100 million by the time Wilds is out in the fray.
